Music for Life Charity Concert

The accolades are coming in for Jammin' Senzation, Conservatory of Performing Arts & Music for organizing such a wonderful musical extravaganza event for Hospice "Music For Life - Charity Concert". All of this for a good cause directed to Hospice at Home program that cares for cancer patient in the comfort of their home. All donation goes into medication, training programs for nurses/medical officers that provide regulat visitation to these cancer patients.

In her speech, Jasmin Khor, Principal and Managing Director of Jammin's Senzation said, "We want to give back as much as possible as part of our social corporate responsibility and we want to do this every year. This concert provides an opportunity for Jammin' Senzation to inculcate its culture by allowing its students and opportunity to perform "LIVE" in front of a large audience as is the reason why you would see a lot of participation from our students ranging from 3yrs to over 40yrs performing in different music styles, repertoires and in different instruments in the concert" she added. The teachers too, played an important role in shaping, guiding and practicing and with the students for this concert.

The Dec 7 Charity Concert was divided into 3 sections ie., the Prelude, the Opening and the Main Event (Jazz Strife). The prefulde performers entertained audience in a variety of different styles and ensemble with combination of electronic, strings and wind instruments.

Maya, Hui Fang and Benjamin belted a meaningful performance on "I'll stand by you" with Audio Visual on the Hospice Program shown on the screen. Other notables are violin and piano performances by Leonard, Seng Liang, Janet and other students of Jammin' Senzation.

The opening started with The Fresco (former harmonica World Champion) who entertained with 4 songs using different type of harmonicas (bass, rhythimic, 1st chromatic and 2nd chromatic harmonica). Then, the Musica Tangorina which featured Andrew Filmer and his Strings performers on Violas, Cello and Violins playing Classical Hits like Libertango and Tango from Scent of a Women.

This is followed by the Mickey Mouse's Fanfare March where students & teachers performed to famous theme songs from Disney's in different ensembles and repertoires. Notables performances in the prelude are 7 year olds named Joel who performed like a seasoned professional on an electric organ, a group of dummers (Students and teachers) using dustbins, pots, pans others to Happy Feet's STOMP and Boogie Wonderland and ensemble groups performing "the Incredibles" accompanied by rhythmics dancers of the Penang Gymnastics Association and James Bond Theme with the Bond girls from Jammin Senzation.

The Main event (Jass Stripe) started with the Dasho Logan, daughter of late Alleycats singer Loganathan and her band. There on, Moses and sons (Melvin and Dexter) performed remarkable on their rendition of "fly me to the Moon" coupled with the medley performances of Tracy and the Heart with Moses that brought back great memories of the 70's songs.

Special guest artiste from the USA, Denise Mininfield, performed extraordinarily and got the entire audience on their feet with "Crazy". Denise, a renowned Jazz singer also danced and shook hands with the audience during her performances as she belts out different jazz melodic styles and that brought down the house. Diniese Mininfield was accompanied by the JS band (Brandon, Brian, Moses and Melvin).

The JS Band (Brandon and Brian) with the guitar quartet (Faizal, Damon, William, Dexter) also rendered a few hits from Black Eyes Peas famous hit "Tonight is going to be a Good Night" with guest performers like Mak Tim Joe and Maya.

Jasmin, the Principal of Jammin' Senzation, too, did took the stage on the electric organ to perform "When a Man loves a Woman" with the JS Band.

WVC Trio + 1 took the stage with its own compositions and jazz style that has mesmerized audience with its performances. The concert was brought to the end with WVC Trio + 1 and Denise Mininfield singing "Route 66? and followed by the Finale song in tribute to Michael Jackson, "Heal the world".

In all, it was a FANTASTIC CONCERT with Different Styles. The best concert for the year 2009. Everyone enjoyed themselves except that the concert lasted 4 hours.
